“We are committed to playing our part in upskilling the nation and ensuring that different groups of people are given the opportunity to help build Inland Rail."
"We are setting up these young men for success, we're giving them the tools where they will go from strength to strength and carve out fantastic careers with National qualifications.

'Working at Heights' and in 'Confined Spaces' TAFE courses are an example of how the Inland Rail Skills Academy helps Clontarf students build their practical work skills and awareness.

Courses like these help students progress with their training and encourage them to future their civil construction studies.

ARTC is supporting the Clontarf Foundation's goals around school retention, development of soft skills, including leadership, and links to employment and training opportunities for those academies along the Inland Rail alignment.

Our Social Performance Team has been busy raising awareness about jobs with our contractors and what training and studying pathways boys can consider to set them up for success.

'Super training’ event a hit in Narromine

Inland Rail staff and representatives from our construction contractor, Martinus Rail, recently participated in one of Clontarf Foundation's much-loved “super training” events in Narromine.

Students from Clontarf Academies in Narromine, Dubbo, Wellington and Orange ran through various rugby league skills and drills stations and had the opportunity to meet and interact with special guests, former NRL superstars Steve Menzies and Nathan Hindmarsh.

Students from Clontarf Foundation Moree Academy recently learned from the best during a special football training session with NRL legend Greg Inglis in November last year.

Inglis, who has been open about his battle with depression and Bipolar II disorder, took time to offer students wisdom about cultivating mental wellbeing on and off the playing field.

"My psychiatrist told me 'Greg, your story can help change a life, and help save a life,' which put me on this journey."

Following the training session, students participated in a day full of ‘Starting the Yarn’ mental health promotion initiative activities including weaving, art, song and dance, bush medicine and spiritual healing to showcase Gamilaroi Culture and connect young people to local health support services.

Participants also attended the graduation ceremony of nine local community members who completed their Certificate II in Civil Construction course at TAFE NSW facilitated by Inland Rail Skills Academy.

Funding for these activities is helping young men to stay in school, develop their leadership skills and create pathways to employment through training opportunities.
